Health Policy All staff of Inspection and Tests Nigeria Limited (ITL) shall undergo general medical examination for fitness within the compulsory probational period of employment (initial six (6) months of employment). Confirmation of a staff’s employment shall depend on ability to pass the stipulated medical tests, among other criteria.
Any staff of ITL may also be sent for routine medical reassessment at management discretion at any point in time of the staff’s employment or if the staff is suspected to be a drug or alcohol abuser.
ITL shall offer to all staff free medical treatment at the Company retained clinic. The treatment for staff shall cover routine illnesses and emergencies including malaria and other fevers, aches, pains, colds and flu and other work related ailments including accidents, but may not include major surgeries or congenital ailments and sexually transmitted diseases. Treatment for such health problems shall be discussed with management before being authorized.
All ITL staff who do work with known health hazards such as radiography shall undergo compulsory routine medical examination on yearly basis and records of such examination shall be kept.
All staff of ITL who are not engaged on contract employment shall remain engaged for a maximum period of two months of continuous ill health and absence from work, after which the employment of such staff may be reviewed by management. The employment review shall be without prejudice to any terminal dues accruing to the staff in case of possible termination of employment on grounds of ill-health.
The health status and frequency of hospitalization of a staff shall form part of the criteria for annual appraisal, promotion, regrading and pay increases.
All staff of ITL shall be encouraged by all reasonable means to live a responsible life that puts health first.
