COMPANY POLICIES
Quality Policy Statement
The executive management of Inspection and Tests Nigeria Limited (ITL) is fully committed to providing for our clients the highest quality products and services which shall comply with both contractual and regulatory requirements and designed to meet the expectations and needs of our customers.

Inspection and Tests Nigeria Limited shall strive for the attainment of specified quality needs through a systematic and methodical management of men and materials involved in the service process and shall design, sustain and improve our services in line with standard specifications and to ensure compliance to this policy.

Health Policy
All staff of Inspection and Tests Nigeria Limited (ITL) shall undergo general medical examination for fitness within the compulsory probational period of employment (initial six (6) months of employment). Confirmation of a staff’s employment shall depend on ability to pass the stipulated medical tests, among other criteria.

Any staff of ITL may also be sent for routine medical reassessment at management discretion at any point in time of the staff’s employment or if the staff is suspected to be a drug or alcohol abuser.

ITL shall offer to all staff free medical treatment at the Company retained clinic. The treatment for staff shall cover routine illnesses and emergencies including malaria and other fevers, aches, pains, colds and flu and other work related ailments including accidents, but may not include major surgeries or congenital ailments and sexually transmitted diseases. Treatment for such health problems shall be discussed with management before being authorized.

All ITL staff who do work with known health hazards such as radiography shall undergo compulsory routine medical examination on yearly basis and records of such examination shall be kept.

All staff of ITL who are not engaged on contract employment shall remain engaged for a maximum period of two months of continuous ill health and absence from work, after which the employment of such staff may be reviewed by management. The employment review shall be without prejudice to any terminal dues accruing to the staff in case of possible termination of employment on grounds of ill-health.

The health status and frequency of hospitalization of a staff shall form part of the criteria for annual appraisal, promotion, regrading and pay increases.

All staff of ITL shall be encouraged by all reasonable means to live a responsible life that puts health first.

Environment Policy
Inspection and Tests Nigeria Limited (ITL) shall conduct her operations in a manner that is most environmentally acceptable.

ITL shall consequently develop and maintain an environmental culture that recognizes the prescriptions of the Federal Ministry of Environment, Federal Environmental Protection Agency and DPR guidelines on environmental pollution control, particularly as they relate to oil and gas businesses.

We shall therefore practice and encourage the practice of carrying out relevant environmental studies and monitoring of effluents and other discharges from oil and gas businesses likely to impact negatively on the environment.

ITL shall assist in building the capability of employees, clients and the public to comply with environmental management prescriptions through presentation and participation in seminars, workshops and courses relevant to the oil and gas industry for the overall preservation of our natural environment.

 

Community Affairs Policy
Inspection and Tests Nigeria Limited (ITL) shall generally conduct her operations in a way that would recognize the need for a cordial working relationship with host communities.

ITL shall develop a Community Affairs Programme for all localities of a new project likely to have impact on the host communities.

The Community Affairs Programme shall note areas of likely friction during the execution of the project and proffer solutions to them.

We shall maintain sound public relations with a host community and shall employ available local labour for projects requiring such employment. ITL shall also assist in community development projects where such assistance is justified by obvious need and encouraged by project magnitude.

ITL and her staff shall maintain a low profile and shall not exhibit unnecessary or arrogant display of affluence at the community level to avoid aggravating the existing feeling of neglect in these communities and to avoid unreasonable demands being generated therefrom.

 

Safety Policy
Inspection and Tests Nigeria Limited (ITL) shall as a matter of corporate policy pursue her business with utmost regard for all safety considerations relevant to every aspect of our business.

All employees shall therefore work as safely as is humanly possible with the overall aims of avoiding loss of life, careless damage to equipment and avoidable destruction of natural environment.

All work shall be stopped once the safety of any or all elements above appear threatened.

Time, money and effort shall be devoted by management to the attainment of our safety goals above, and all staff shall work strictly with these safety obligations in mind or shall not work for Inspection and Tests Nigeria Limited.

 

Drugs and Alcohol Policy
It is the policy of Inspection and Tests Nigeria Limited (ITL) to prohibit the use of all drugs and alcohol capable of influencing the normal actions of an individual by affecting his central nervous system and the brain while performing company activity or within company or client’s facility. Such drugs and alcohol include but are not limited to beer, stout, whisky, brandy, tobacco, Indian hemp, cocaine, heroin, LSD and such related drugs.

ITL may at her discretion in addition to routine pre-employment screening subject a prospective employee to medical checks designed specifically to prove whether or not such a person uses drugs or alcohol or both. Refusal to submit to such medical examination may result in denial of employment.

Where a staff is reasonably suspected to be a drug or alcohol abuser, adhoc medical screening may also be recommended by management for such a staff and refusal to comply may also result in employment termination.

ITL strictly forbids smoking in all offices and work sites because of the harmful effects of nicotine on the health of the smoker and even others, as well as the attendant risk of fire outbreak likely to occur from smoking. Violators of our non-smoking policy may therefore be dismissed without prior warning based on result of investigation of any staff charged with smoking at work site or office.

 

Security Policy
Inspection and Tests Nigeria Limited (ITL) shall make adequate arrangements for the security of lives of staff and property of the company.

All staff shall be held directly responsible for the security of company property in their care and shall strive to use such property in a safe and approved manner using their best endeavours to protect it from damage, loss or theft.

All staff of ITL are therefore encouraged to acquire and practice good personal security habits to aid the protection of their lives and that of their families and secure company property.

In the case of a security incident, ITL staff are encouraged to apply immediate security emergency recovery plan which should include:

  • Reporting the incident immediately to concerned safety personnel and the police if necessary.
  • Send in a written report to Safety Department within 24 hours and aid investigation into the incident.
  • Apply any preventive action necessary to cover any lapses and forestall further complications resulting from the incident.
